What is the Dedicated Object?
Imagine you’ve stumbled across a planet on the other side galaxy that is like Earth in every way but social norms are assigned to you by what genes you have. On this world, named Allison, those who are found to have the “Object” genetic marker are stripped of everything and are destoned to become property.
Once you’re property (or considered an object) whoever takes ownership of you has all the rights.
There are some side positive effects of being an object:
- You age at a much slower rate than normal humans;
- You have increased vitality;
- You no longer require food; and
- Trips to the bathroom become a thing of the past.
For some the negative things might be a small problem:
- You actions are controlled by your owner;
- Your owner can use you for whatever purpose they choose;
- You’re not aloud to own anything;
- You might look human in every way but you’ll never get treated as an equal; and
- Some owners brand their objects to stop them from escaping.
The ‘Dedicated Object’ is a library of short stories that was created by a group objects located in various parts of Allison.
Nothing on this website should be considered real. It’s a fantasy world on the other side of the galaxy.
The Back Story.
Ahh yeah… there is always a back story. Here’s some of them you might find helpful. Planet Allison and Earth are identical in every way. People evolved in much the same way but there was one difference. On Allison you were either a person with full rights or an object with none. The evolution of the humanoid species on Allison became separated by a genetic marker that when active allowed a longer life and many other perks.
Somewhere in the history of Allison, people with the “object” gene got stripped of their humanity. As this process evolved through the planets evolution the moment a person was found to have the active “object gene they would no longer be able to have the right normal humans had. They would be owned, sold, used to create better lives for those without the evolutional step.
